David is responsible for the BBC's 40 Local Radio stations, as well as regional television and local web teams across England.

He worked in local newspapers and commercial radio before joining the BBC. He has launched three local radio stations, one commercial and two in the BBC, before working in regional television as a producer and Editor

He ran three BBC regions, the North-West, the East and the West Midlands, before being made the Controller of the BBC's English regions in December 2008.

David, who is responsible for 3,000 staff, is a member of the BBC's News Board and is a RAJAR Board member.
