The Judges - Paul Brown CBE
Paul worked in Forces and UK Commercial Radio as both a presenter and manager from 1970 to 1984.
From 1984 to 1995 he worked as a radio regulator, first in the Independent Broadcasting Authority and then at the Radio Authority where he became deputy chief executive. In 1995 he became Chief Executive of the Association of Independent Radio Companies which soon became the Commercial Radio Companies Association (CRCA).
In 2006, he became chairman of the RadioCentre, finally leaving radio in December 2008.
In the nineties and noughties he undertook various cross-industry roles in the development of digital radio, radio audience research and The Radio Academy.
He is proud to be a two-time Sony Radio Academy award winner. He became a CBE in 2003 for services to radio. Since 2009 he has been an external affairs consultant and is currently a non-executive director of Wightlink Ltd, which operates ferries between the Isle of Wight and the mainland.
