Sony DAB Rising Star Award - Now Open for Entries!
On Air with the Sony DAB ‘Rising Star’ Award
As inventor of the transistor radio in the 1950’s and sponsor of the prestigious annual Radio Academy Awards, Sony is proud to put its name to the Sony DAB ‘Rising Star’ Award.
Launched in 2008, this independent award recognises today’s up and coming radio stars, honouring DJs who have been broadcasting on radio for less than 18 months.
Previous winners of the award have included, George Lamb for BBC 6 Music, Singing Henry from Kerrang, Jarvis Cocker for BBC 6 Music and last year’s winner Robbie Savage for Radio 5 Live.
As the only people’s choice award The Rising Star Award is one of the most coveted wins of the night. Listeners can take part by voting for their favourite nominees of new radio stars at http://risingstar.sony.co.uk - this years winner will be announced live at the Sony Radio Academy Awards ceremony, so keep your ears tuned for that!
In its short life, the Sony DAB ‘Rising Star’ Award has proved immensely popular and influential. The deadline for entries into the 2012 Sony DAB Rising Start Award is Thursday 1st March.
